Peace and Love is All you Need for a Mass Shooting Sunday, July 27, 2014 02:07 PM

There are times when you encounter the unexpected. I was just walking to the neighborhood store when I heard the sound of live drums.  Not a totally uncommon sound in the ethnically diverse neighborhood of Gardena, CA. where more than a few quinceanaras take place, but these drums we're different.  They sounded not like the sound of Mexican music, but of Hip Hop. It sounded like R&B.

Live R&B? That's something far too rare these days.

It was something to investigate, so I did, and I found a myself in the midst a not only a family tragedy, but also a family of uncommon strength which I could not have expected or predicted.

Netroots Nation 14 Inside and Out Tuesday, July 22, 2014 11:07 AM
Crossposted from Dailykos.

Having now been to my first Netroots, I have a variety of reactions and observations from having been there contrasted with how the event seems to be perceived by those outside, particularly in the media.Unlike some reports which noted that both Vice President Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren were speaking at a "Liberal Convention", Up with Steve Kornacki not only acknowledged that the event in question was Netroots Nation, they actually interviewed rank and file members of the conference and discussed it over the course of two segments.

http://www.msnbc.com/up-w-steve-kornacki/watch/some-progressives-still-hesitant-of-hillary-308622403828

Unfortunately though most of even their coverage was focused on the "Horse Race for 2016" between Vice President Biden, Secretary Hillary Clinton and Senator Elizabeth Warren.  There wasn't really much direct discussion of what was actually being discussed by the conferee's and what, if any, impact this conference may have on the Progressive Movement in the future as a whole.Contrary to the constant tendency for the media to act like a pack of 4-year-olds playing soccer [Every player chases the shiny, happy candy-like ball, nobody covers their positions as I said to Dave Weigel of Slate] Netroots Nation 2014 was NOT about the 2016 Horserace.  I didn't see that issue coming up at all unless someone in the media brought it up.  That should be, at this time, the last of our concerns.  We still have about four months before we have an election this year.  To me our attention should be focused Laser Like to doing everything we can to weaken vulnerable Republicans and strengthen vulnerable Democrats because if we don't - if we continue with the current status quo - the last two years of the Obama Administration will remain the same annoying dysfunctional, partisan clusterfuck that the last four years have been.

I, for one, have had just about quite enough at that Merde, yes Sir, I have.

Yes, sometimes the view from the inside is very different contrasted with the view from the outside.  And sometimes they are very alike.

Endeavor at the California Science Center Sunday, June 22, 2014 12:06 PM
This past November I paid a visit to the California Science Center and took a few dozen pictures of the some of the exhibits including the Space Shuttle Endeavor, Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsules, EVA suits, fighter planes such as the T-38 and F-20 and many other items they currently have on display.

This was the first time I'd actually seen the Shuttle up close since I'd visited the Rockwell Plant in Downey that built it - where they had a full sized mockup and display - when I was a kid and more recently the final landing of the Endeavor at L.A.X. after it's flight around the country atop it's 747 Carrier.

I actually shot video of that landing while standing practically at the end of the L.A.X. runway - which is including in the detail section of this post.

The Voice Audition Videos Sunday, June 1, 2014 01:06 PM
In order to get my voice in shape for "The Voice" - which is the only singing contest show I can respect, and am also eligible to enter - I've started recording myself practicing some of the most difficult songs I can think of. Everything from Journey to Soundgarden. From these, I need to pick two songs to place on a DVD for my Official Audition submission. If you have any you like best, let me know in the comments here on or youtube.

N.A.M.M. 2014 Saturday, January 25, 2014 04:01 AM
A lot of people don't know what N.A.M.M. is.  That's not surprising, but for those who don't know it's kind of a big deal. A really big deal - for musicians.  Most people, not being musicians, don't know squat about it, but for musicians it's a Big Freakin' Enchilada Snowball.

Think of it this way, the geeky electronics and gaming people (which includes myself) have their big deal convention called C.E.S. (Consumer Electronics Show). For people who are Comics Fans, and increasingly video gamers there's the San Diego Comic Con. For adult video enthusiast, or as I sometimes like to think of them the self-hand-job-activists, there is the AVN (Adult Video Expo).  For Musicians, people who actually play music and genuinely care about how it's played, despite living in the age ruled by non-musical rap artists and even less musical auto-tune "vocalists", there is N.A.M.M., the National Association of Musical Merchants Convention.

For musicians, it's a CES, AVN and San Diego Comic Con all at once. so as I said, It's kind of a deal.
